The theme of discussion, “Why Entrepreneurship Programs for Engineers Fail” is an Harvard Business Review (HBR) question which is currently being researched by top professionals across the world. The outcome of these year-long event will be published and presented to the public.

Objective: To inspire and empower Nigerians with technical background to think outside the box and solve their immediate socio-economic challenges by leveraging entrepreneurial and technology resources and network collaboratively.

Engr. Kamaldeen Adefemi is the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Periscope Engineering Limited.

With over 15 years industry experience and serving clients such as Total Nigeria, Lagos State Government, Lagos Homes, Enyo Retail, First Bank etc. He is a chattered engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and Corporate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

Engr. Kamal has a bachelors and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the prestigious University of Lagos, Nigeria.

His company, Periscope Engineering, is a vibrant structural design and civil engineering company based in Lagos, Nigeria set up to meet the broad needs of technological and industrial development in modern architecture and civil engineering.

Services they offer include General Construction, Building Modelling, Design Build, Structural Design, Construction Management and Real Estate Development.

Adetunji began his career as an intern with Total E&P Nigeria Limited where he worked in the civil works division. On graduation as best student in his class, he was recruited by P&G as Consumer Research Analyst from where he moved to Customer Development Department as key account manager (KAM) covering Edo/Delta region. For two years, he led the company’s $3m business managing over 80 staff of distributors and sub-distributors. During this period, he grew the business by +20% despite operating in a shrinking market due to macro-economic conditions and won the award for the best key account manager for four times leading other 16 KAMs across the country.

Adetunji also designed a full-proof business plan that ensured a zero-business loss transition from local distributors to international distributor saving more than 80% of the business and providing employment to over 40 professionals in sales, accounting and logistics. He also identified strategic partners (wholesalers and retailers) in both states which ensured preservation of family businesses. Due to his outstanding performance, the company rewarded him with the Vice President Lion Award for the employee with ideas which delivered best initiative for the company.

Adetunji was promoted the same year as Emerging Channels Leader to lead P&G e-commerce business. During his role in Emerging Channels, He led a group of experts across Sales, Finance, Logistics, Marketing, Purchases and IT in IMEA (India, Middle East and Africa) region to recruit first e-distributor in Nigeria’s FMCG to serve e-commerce giants such Jumia, Konga and others. Within four months, online fundamentals of P&G brands grew from less than 20% to 65% and market share grew from less than 5% to 43%.

Adetunji joined Lurvity Nigeria in 2017 as the Head of Business and currently serves clients in Engineering, Construction, FCMG and Energy Sectors of the economy.

He has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, MBA and currently pursing a Master’s degree in Energy Studies.

He is a corporate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers, International Association of Engineers and Nigerian Association for Energy Economics.

Before establishing Essentro Classics Limited, a modern furniture company, Ajibola was the Head of Operations at Real Wood Work Limited, Lekki.

Ajibola is the founder and CEO of Essentro Classics Furniture (ECF), a subsidiary of Essentro Classics Limited (ECL). He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons) in Wood Products engineering from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Prior to establishing ECL, He was an ace researcher at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria where he worked on modernization and development of Wood, article board and Bamboo into acceptable furniture for various homes and offices. He also created a solution to the wastes generated from wood using them as additions to Cement bonded composite ceiling board.

Ajibola also worked as the Head of Operations of Real Woodwork Limited where he was saddled with the responsibility of developing effective cost of various wood working operations and products. He also liaised with all company clients suggesting various cost effective solutions and ways to solving problems related to wood work operation. Ajibola, a very articulate and enterprising Business development Officer has built a track record of outstanding performances with previous organizations.His areas of interes
include Furniture and Interior designs, Talent management, Research administration, Qualitative research, Operations, Travels & Logistics, New Product Development, , Retail chain and International business. Other areas of expertise include career development, relationship management, designing frameworks for generating systematic innovation. He has extensive consulting experience, spanning projects at the state level to conglomerates and SME’s in various industries.

Ajibola is also part of Fortress Nigeria; a Non Profit Oriented organization aimed at eradicating child abuse and rape in Nigeria. He also cares about foundation education of kids in Nigeria.
